You can create on a canvas, in a journal or a special box, or even use a shadow frame to hold your collage.

Another therapeutic art activity for working with grief is to create abstract paintings. This can be done by using a canvas, paint or gesso and non-traditional art materials such as feathers, beads, fabric scraps, etc. You can also use memorabilia and photos.
